Three training units are on offer. Unit 1 is in Fire Detection design, Unit 4 is on Installation and Testing, and Unit 5 is on Fire Alarm Maintenance.
All training units are based on the latest Code of Practice, BS 5839-1 (2002). The new code has substantial new section on monitoring and integrity, detector type and choice, false alarms, grades of cable, certification and documentation.
Following the success of the programme in 2004, Gardiner will stage the events at larger venues across the UK. They will take place in Scotland, Manchester, Oxford, north London, south London, York, Cardiff, Exeter and Cambridge.

Installers of fire alarms will be recognised at the Fire Industry Awards Dinner, which takes place at London’s Hilton Metropole Hotel on May 17. Supported by the Fire Industry Confederation, the Dinner is recognised as the fire industry’s premier event, and celebrates best practice across all fire disciplines.
The awards feature two independent ‘Installer of the Year’ categories. One recognises companies involved in installing active fire protection systems, and the other is for companies installing passive systems. More information can be obtained from Katie Chinnock.
