Americans who order delivery pizza this month may be surprised to find their food arrives not on a moped or a van, but on a fire engine. As part of its Spring fire safety campaign, Domino’s Pizza will also deliver fire safety messages on pizza boxes.
“Domino’s makes 1 million deliveries each day, so we reach a lot of people in their homes, where fire safety begins,” said company spokesperson Jenny Fouracre. “We are thrilled to continue the partnership with the NFPA and to be able to use our network of delivery experts to hopefully make homes across the country a little safer.”
The initiative is also timed to coincide with the annual change to daylight saving time in the US, which starts this year on 8 March. People are encouraged to check their smoke alarms as they go round the house changing clocks and timers. The NFPA estimates that 890 lives a year could be saved across the country if all homes had working smoke alarms.
