Think ‘Faast’ before fire damages assets and data

FAAST’s smoke detection performance is built around its dual vision sensing technology. This sensor utilizes an extremely sensitive blue LED to provide very early warning fire detection up to 60 minutes before combustion. With this technology, the detector is better able to discern threat from nuisance, limiting false alarms and keeping the facility operational 24/7.

As an aspirating detector, FAAST draws air samples into its sensor through a pipe network. This allows the detector to interpret signals from both sources to provide accurate detection in challenging environments, such as those with extreme conditions or with tampering or aesthetic concerns.

Sudipto Dutta, marketing leader, said, “We have devised FAAST with an intention to provide highest level of business protection with reduced nuisance alarms that can cause costly downtime and unwarranted activation of connected suppression systems. This product is one of the best solution for IT /ITES, warehousing, infrastructure, railways and cold storage verticals since mission critical facilities have very specific requirements.

For communications, FAAST provides an onboard ethernet port for easy connection to a computer, a network, and the internet, enabling facility managers to actively monitor and protect their environments from any Internet browser, smart phone, or mobile device. The detector can also e-mail status notifications to multiple addresses.

FAAST also enables a fully customized detection strategy. The detector includes five programmable alarm levels, the most of any aspiration detector, and 10 pre-alert particulate levels, so thresholds can be set to meet specific site requirements. In addition, an Acclimate mode can automatically adjust FAAST’s sensitivity within specified parameters.

For example, if usage for a protected area varies, the detector will adjust itself to provide the appropriate sensitivity to suit current environmental conditions. Sensitivity levels can also be programmed based on a schedule. This precision enables facility managers to mount an appropriate response to any situation.
