Guard tour monitoring system increases ROI of security guards
A complete green solution is implemented using these handheld devices which have a built in LCD display with white backlight and black letters for stress free viewing and reading. A 15 key keypad adds to the functionality for data entry and easy selection of pre-defined menus. The devices are enclosed in ABS plastic and are tested for free fall on concrete from a height of 1 metre. A 1000 mAhr Lithium Ion battery lasts for about 2000 readings. DDS offers ‘Plug & Play’ software for transferring the data from handheld device to PC, and this adds extra value since even an unskilled employee is able to transfer data. Optionally the device supports GPRS for on-line data transfer to web servers for time-critical applications. DDS handheld readers are used for an extensive range of applications.
DDS have developed and manufactured GTMS systems for the past 10 years, and in addition to what the available GTMS readers do i.e., identify a sleeping guard, DDS has added features to increase the ROI. One of the unique features of DDS GTMS is that on reaching the tour station (check point), the handheld device allows the guard to select an event from a customized predefined list, for example ‘Street light not working’, ‘Water tank overflowing’ or ‘Normal’ etc. These events give additional information called event information which can be useful to the maintenance staff for work scheduling on priority basis. Guards can even track assets during their normal patrolling and this increases the ROI of the guards.
Another feature, routine inspection and record keeping, is important to minimize breakdowns and downtime. Maintenance record keeping, scheduling and generating alerts are time consuming and expensive. A simple and cost effective solution is to place RFID tags on every equipment that needs to be monitored.
A security guard/ employee when on patrol/ inspection round sends SMS alert on due date just by touching DDS hand held reader to tag. This also increases the ROI of the guards. Other applications of DDS handheld reader are portable attendance, delivery terminal, classroom attendance, travel tag, laptop tracking, asset tracking, pay & park, vehicle tracking and many more.
