ESET launches new antivirus product in India
The new version of ESET products for home and SOHO users is now available in retail stores across India as well as online on ESET India website. The upgrade from all previous versions to the new 5th version is absolutely free for current users.
ESET NOD32 Antivirus 5 and ESET Smart Security 5 offer various improved features, including ESET Live Grid, cloud-based reputation and protection technology, new Removable Media Control, with more granular control of external devices, Parental Control (only in ESET Smart Security 5), Advanced Host-based Intrusion Prevention System (HIPS) and Gamer Mode that switches to silent mode and disables pop ups to conserve system resources and enhance the gaming experience. Fifth generations of ESET Products is furnished with ESET Unilicense which allows users to extend protection to all operating systems (Windows, Mac OS or Linux) running on a single machine at no additional cost.
Parental Control Feature
“Apart from improved usability, easy and friendly graphic user interface, the crucial innovation of the 5th generation of ESET home products lies in the technology itself. There has been revolutionary change in what used to be called ThreatSense.Net – ESET’s cloud-based malware collection system that utilizes data from ESET solutions users worldwide. The technology is now named ESET Live Grid and offers optimization of scanning based on the whitelisting of “safe” files. Another scanning method used in 5th version is cloud-based reputation which allows determine whether a particular object is secure or not. As a result, even more precision threats detecting and increased speed of scanning,” says Pankaj Jain, director, ESS Distribution (P) Ltd.
“Removable Media Control feature will be very useful for Indian users who are most vulnerable for worms and viruses spreading through Internet and removable media, mostly USB flash drives, as ESET latest cyber threat reports show”, adds Pankaj Jain.
Parental Control feature build into ESET Smart Security 5 allows blocking websites with potentially offensive material. In addition, parents can prohibit access to more than 20 pre-defi ned website categories. The user can set up a “role” for each user account, each with its own set of default website categories that are allowed or disabled during browsing.
