Post 26/11, India bought 204 patrol boats to secure coast

Post 26/11 attack on Mumbai, the Ministry of Home Affairs has purchased 204 boats, of which 120 boats are of 12-ton size and 84 boats are of 5-ton size, said Mullappally Ramachandran, Minister of State in the Ministry of Home Affairs today.

Altogether 28 boats have been delivered to state of Maharashtra, of which six boats are of 12-ton size and 22 boats are of 5-ton size.

As per the information available, the boats delivered to state of Maharashtra are operational and are being used for patrolling in the coastal area of Maharashtra including Mumbai.

An annual maintenance contract has been signed with the boats supplier — Goa Shipyard Ltd. (GSL), a Government of India undertaking. GSL is regularly doing the maintenance work of the boats to keep the boats operational.
