Auction site offers excess installer kit
The new, trade-only site – www.xs-supplies.com – describes itself as ‘no frills’ and is dedicated to helping wholesalers and distributors sell their unwanted or excess stock within the UK and abroad. It features a dedicated security section.
“With a shrinking UK economy and the house building trade in some disarray, a huge number of electrical wholesalers and cable distributors are struggling to predict ongoing demand and to sell through products as they normally would in predictable volumes,” a statement said.
“Planning stock requirements has now become a nightmare for many companies, as too has the backlog of excess stock sitting on the shelf tying up much needed cash. That is where xs-supplies.com fits in as the perfect answer to the problem.
“xs supplies is a totally anonymous way for wholesalers and distributors to sell unwanted or excess stock, allowing stock to be moved freely around the market from wholesaler to wholesaler or from wholesaler to trade end user.
Free registration
“It is free to register and list stock on the xs supplies site. Once the seller is registered, xs supplies works with them to decide the bottom price they will accept for the lines they want to sell.
“xs-supplies then lists that stock on line, under three different options to help sell it on. One is ‘Buy Now’ – where a bid at the asking price wins the stock. Two is ‘Auction’ – where the buyer can bid and wait. The third is ‘Make me an offer’ – where the buyer can make an offer to take the stock at a given price that is then submitted to the seller for approval.
“xs supplies runs the Pay-Pal secure payment facility on the site and all payments are made by Debit or Credit Card. Once a sale has been made, the seller is notified and sends their stock to the xs supplies UK based distribution hub.
“xs supplies in turn send the goods on to the buyer, charging a delivery fee to cover the cost of distribution and then release the cash to the seller once the goods have been delivered.
“Sellers are required to warrant that the goods being offered for sale meet the relevant regulatory requirements, are not second hand and are fit for resale. Buyers can therefore also be confident that the goods they are buying are not faulty, damaged, or sub-standard.”
Stock issues
Mark Dodd, the company’s operations director, said: “We saw the slow down in the economy, recognised the potential stock issues that this may cause, and have spent the last six months developing the xs-supplies.com site.
“Unlike other auction sites, we do not and will not be selling everything from TVs to Barbie Dolls and toilet roll. We are totally dedicated to the electrical wholesale trade and to trade installers and will only be listing stock that is relevant to these markets.
“Trade users can therefore be sure that when they visit our site, all they will see are thousands of batches of relevant product for sale at rock bottom prices, saving them time and hassle when looking for a fantastic deal.”
