IP installer beats the clock
Chiron Security Communications and Norbain Benelux staged a workshop session at the Safety & Security Amsterdam exhibition and discovered how reliable the technology has now become, said Chiron.
As the highlight of the session an installer earned a bottle of Champagne when he proved to be able to set up an IP alarm monitoring connection in less than three minutes.
“We gave them this challenge, without any warning or prior experience – but of course it wasn’t challenging for them at all,” says Lodewijk van Ommeren, Chiron’s sales and marketing director.
“We proved that after just a few minutes learning about the Iris system any competent installer can use it to set up an IP connection very quickly.
“Our workshop was entitled ‘Easy to IP?’ – and the answer for these installers was definitely yes.”
Iris and Iris Touch alarm transmission and monitoring systems include faster alerting, cheaper line monitoring, a range of value-added services, such as building management system monitoring and reporting, plus improved network resilience.
IRIS Touch provides “extra user-friendly” features such as the touch screen as well as a fresh new design and operating interface, “which makes life much easier for both end users and installers,” says the company.
Last year the Iris system had independent confirmation from the German VdS testing house that it complies with EN 50131, 50136 and EN 54-21 for fire systems.
“IRIS is certified to the highest level of ATS 6 for both IP and GPRS routings – the first IP system to achieve these independent VdS certifications,” said van Ommeren.
