Manchester school beats nuisance alarm problem
In 2007 the school had an external CCTV system installed but within a few weeks of commissioning the system, it was apparent that the detection was generating lots of false alarms and the school demanded that something was done to eliminate the problem.
RemGuard urgently needed to come up with a viable and economic solution and replaced the PIR detectors with D-TECT3 detectors from GJD Manufacturing Limited.
The school, a new build in South Manchester, generated impressive statistics for false alarms over a 3 month period.
Month one was the last complete month with the conventional external PIRs, the installation company replaced all the external detectors with GJD D-TECT3 units in month two and month three was the first complete month with the new equipment.
The reduction in nuisance alarms was immediate, with false alarms reduced from 220 to three, environmental alarms reduced from 162 to one and wildlife alarms reduced from 257 to two.
