BSIA appoints Phillips as technical officer
Phillips will work alongside the Association’s technical manager David Wilkinson to provide “fundamental technical services” (including the development of BSIA Codes of Practice and British Standards).
Talking to SMT Online about the appointment, Alex Carmichael – the BSIA’s hugely respected technical and membership services director – stated: “Paul’s appointment as technical officer is a direct reflection of the BSIA’s commitment to working on the improvement of standards within the security industry. Through the BSIA, the industry has a significant representative voice in the development of British and European standards. We continue to lead the way by developing our own Codes of Practice. I’m sure that Paul will make a significant contribution to the Association’s activity in this area, and I very much look forward to working with him as part of the team.”
Drawing on previous experience
Commenting on his appointment, Phillips himself said: “I’m delighted to have been appointed to the position of technical officer. Having worked in the security industry for 15 years, and with significant involvement in intruder alarm standards at BSI/Cenelec, I’m looking forward to drawing upon my previous experience to ensure the delivery of the vital service the Association provides for its members and the industry at large.”
The BSIA has also appointed Louise Szortowski as technical department administrator. Louise will provide support to the Technical Department across all aspects of its work.
