In an adjournment debate on the subject, the minister responsible for security, policing and community safety commented: “I pay tribute to the BSIA and its chief executive, David Dickinson, for the excellent work that has been carried out by the Association and its members in raising the profile of the problems surrounding Cash-in-Transit attacks, and for the initiatives they are continually developing.”
In response, David Dickinson told SMT: “The industry is working hard with its partners in the police, the Government and the GMB Trade Union to piece together initiatives that will realise a reduction in attacks on Cash-in-Transit couriers. It’s tremendously encouraging that the minister has recognised the vital role this industry is playing in helping to reduce Cash-in-Transit crime. I am sure that he will continue to work with us in bringing about a substantial decrease in such crime, which can lead to couriers being injured and traumatised.”
