Security Institute Takes Building the Future Award at BSIA Awards
The Security Institute took home the British Security Industry Association’s Building the Future award at yesterday’s annual BSIA lunch.
The award was the culmination of an event that saw the BSIA also presenting the Security Personnel Awards, Apprentice Installer Awards, Chairman’s Awards, and Special Awards for Outstanding Service in cash-in-transit, which you can read about here.
The Building the Future award was presented to the Security Institute’s current chairman, Emma Shaw, by our very own Brian Sims, in recognition of the Institute’s valuable contribution to the security industry. Their part in developing the register of chartered security professionals, and in producing a range of good practice guides, was praised and Bobby Logue, who helped present the award, described the Security Institute as “a worthy winner.”
Security Personnel Awards
Earlier in the afternoon, 15 security professionals picked up awards for their work across the UK in the past 12 months. Winners included representatives of VSG, Advance Security, and G4S, and there were stunning examples of individual heroism from people including Mark Cooper, who pulled a woman to safety by her backpack when he saw her trying to jump into a river known for its strong undercurrent, and Michael Smyth, who managed to save a patient from falling from the upper floors of a hospital building, after she had entered an dangerous area.

Congratulations to all the winners, I wish we had something similar here in the states. It is good to see people recognized for their achievements usually the only time you hear about security in the news is when there is something new or something has failed. Keep up the good work guys and gals!
And a special congrats to the Security Institute.
I know the wine flows at the BSIA lunch, but it wasn’t a BSIA award, it was an Infologue.com award presented by Bobby Logue, sponsored by Interconnective.
Cheers,
