Samsung has introduced a new network video recording system that makes expanding a video storage system simpler, according to the manufacturers.
The new Samsung SRN-1000 NVR has 24TB of on-board storage with a potential to add another 24TB of external storage using e-Sata direct storage devices.
The NVR can be linked to an ‘unlimited’ number of SRN-1000’s to provide a server-style storage solution.
This will allow specifiers to add storage capacity after the initial installation should the scope of the surveillance project grow – Samsung’s Tim Biddulph said that this should take away “the mystique and fear out of estimating how much video storage to allow for.”
He continued: “Even experienced installers have told us that this can be a very costly mistake if they get it wrong, but it is obviously of particular concern for those who have limited experience of installing Video over IP systems.
“Our design engineers have put a lot of thought into how to make this building block solution as installer friendly as possible.
“For example, as each of the SRN-1000’s eight internal HDDs is installed, they are automatically recognised and added to the recorder and immediately available for recording.”
Other key features of the SRN-1000 NVR include:
NVR records at 100MBs, supports H.264, MPEG-4 and MJPEG compression;
ONVIF compliant;
Linux-based;
Compatible with Samsung Centralised Management Software enables remote access via a PC, smartphone, or tablet;
Free support services including system design and technical support.
