Optex signals “major investment” in Raytec

Raytec is a global leader in security lighting with a reputation for high performance, high quality products designed, manufactured and supported to the highest standards.

An official statement comments that this new partnership allows the two companies to capitalise on many common synergies in sales and technology, in turn bringing both sensor and lighting technologies together.

Raytec’s three founding directors – namely Shaun Cutler, David Lambert and Tony Whiting – remain on the Board and are committed to achieving Raytec’s long term goals.

Cutler explained: “The investment by Optex is exciting and very much welcomed by everyone at Raytec. We will continue to operate independently from our UK facility, although we now have access to more resources to better serve our customers and alliance partners across the globe”.

He continued: “The two companies share many common goals and firmly believe that by working more closely together we can continue to make a positive difference to the security industry.”

High security installations and CNI projects

Raytec and Optex technologies are often partner products in the field and are used together in major, high security installations and Critical National Infrastructure projects across the globe.

Now part of the same group, both technology teams will aim to work together in developing and integrating sensor and LED technologies.

“Teaming up with Optex provides Raytec with the opportunity to enhance our production, quality, purchasing and sales activities to deliver world leading products and customer support to Raytec customers around the globe,” enthused David Lambert, Raytec’s sales and marketing director.

“In addition, both Optex and Raytec share a passion for green technology and the environment. Our new partnership will allow us to further develop products that save time, money and energy for our customers while also enhancing security.”

Under the terms of the deal the Raytec brand will remain in place and Raytec’s focus will remain firmly on innovation and illumination.

As a company, Raytec believes that lighting plays a significant role in reducing crime. “By teaming up with Optex, we hope to bring new technologies to the market which will help reduce crime and create a safer environment.”

CCTV and general lighting applications

Raytec specialises in LED lighting and manufacture and has produced a complete range of infrared and White Light LED illuminators for both CCTV and general lighting applications.

All Raytec illuminators use the latest SMT LED technology to improve the performance of any security system at night, delivering high quality images, ten-year lifecycles, low energy consumption, low running costs and zero maintenance.

The company’s management team boasts over 40 years’ experience in designing, specifying and selling lighting directly to over 60 countries, and all Raytec products are UK designed and manufactured. Annual turnover is in excess of GB pound 12 million.

For its part, the Optex Company Limited is a publicly traded company on the Tokyo Stock Exchange (6914.T).

Optex has four business segments:

  • Security Products (security sensor systems)
  • Entrance Control (automatic door sensors and entrance control systems)
  • Industrial Sensors (which provides various products useful for quality control and safety control)
  • Environmental Sensors (which contributes to environmental monitoring and water quality preservation)

In a recent Frost & Sullivan market analysis, Optex was confirmed to be the leading equipment manufacturer of outdoor security sensors in the global market.
