State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Perimeter fencing inspection scheme guide: comment invited

The QFAS – chaired by Harper Chalice managing director Graham Harper – has been launched to raise standards in the fencing sector through a programme of inspections, auditing and end user education. Importantly, it will offer customers ten-year warranty protection for a wide variety of fencing types and systems.

Under the QFAS guidelines, it’s proposed that all QFAS member companies will appoint suitably qualified inspectors from among their own senior members of staff, who will then be responsible for inspecting every QFAS-protected installation upon completion (and during installation on larger contracts). These in-company inspectors will be afforded training and guidance by the QFAS, and attend regular local meetings plus an annual workshop.

Graham Harper told SMT: “We believe that this programme of 100% self-inspection, backed-up by regular and random independent third party inspection, will be effective without imposing unnecessary additional costs.”
