A number of readers have suggested this tune. It seems to have struck a real chord in the collective subconscious security/music axis, that murky area of the brain where we connect important issues pertaining to personal liberty and safety with a wide range of music videos or tunes of wildly varying quality.
It’s this area of the brain that Songs About Security seeks to refresh. In fact, info4security refreshes parts of the brain other security websites simply can’t reach, or, indeed, haven’t bothered to make up.
Anyway, on with this week’s classic number.
Jailhouse Rock paints an ironic vision of the horror of incarceration as ongoing party – albeit a party where men weep alone, only to be humilated by their prison officers:
“The sad sack was a sittin on a block of stone
Way over in the corner weepin’ all alone.
The warden said, ‘Hey, buddy, don’t you be no square.
If you can’t find a partner use a wooden chair’.”
Definite echoes of Iraq and Guantanamo Bay there.
Enjoy this paen to man’s inhumanity to man, and keep your suggestions coming in.
