Security solutions provider Ward Security has strengthened its financial team with the appointment of David King as financial controller and associate director (designate).
Accountant King will be responsible for the overall financial functioning of the company, with key roles to include the management and operation of Ward’s financial systems and policies and regular weekly reporting to the Board on all fiscal matters.
David joins the Rochester-based company after 11 years in accountancy practice, all of which was spent at Burgess Hodgson in Canterbury. He qualified as a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales back in March 2004.
Speaking about this new role, King told SMT Online: “I’m looking forward to this opportunity. After working in practice for so many years, it’s something of a new challenge to be on the other side of the desk in an industry position.”
Management accounts and cash flow forecasting
Working in a team with two people supporting him, in addition to the overall running of the finance function, King will be specifically responsible for management accounts, cash flow forecasting, budget setting and payroll.
“I hope to bring to the company a good overall business knowledge, and look forward to being in a role where, with the support of the directors, I will be able to directly influence the future successes and fortunes of the business,” added King.
Commenting on King’s appointment, Ward Security’s managing director David Ward stated: “We welcome David to the business. With his wealth of experience gained in accountancy practice, we’ve significantly strengthened our financial team. As a direct result, we’re now ideally placed to continue to develop and grow the business in line with our expectations.”
Ward Security’s head office and main operations centre is located in Rochester. The company provides security guarding, dog patrol, concierge and reception and alarm response and key holding services for a range of clients. The company is Approved Contractor Scheme registered, as well as being a SAFEContractor and approved to ISO 9001. Membership of the British Safety Council has also been gained.
