IP partnership announces first product

The new partnership sees Stretch combining its configurable processor technology with Pixim’s ultra-wide dynamic range image sensors. The result is the IP Camera Reference Design Kit (RDK), which is claimed to be an advanced-feature, multi-standard intelligent network camera that seamlessly supports Pixim’s image sensors.

Powered by the Stretch S6105 software configurable processor, the RDK is said to be able to perform H.264 encoding on 30 fps of images from the Pixim sensors, whilst retaining 75% of the processing cycles available for the integration of third-party video analytics or the addition of other advanced features.

“Collaboration between image sensor suppliers and developers of processors providing leading-edge encoding solutions are essential in order to accelerate the time to market for makers of IP network cameras,” said Bob Beachler, Stretch’s Vice President of Marketing.

“By closely working together, we ensured that the S6000 family of devices and the IP Camera RDK directly support Pixim’s imaging sensor family, simplifying the design efforts of video surveillance equipment developers.”

John Monti, Pixim’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales said that his company has set the standard for wide dynamic range image capture under challenging conditions.

“With the introduction of the Stretch IP Camera Reference Design Kit, our customers will have access to a high-performance and cost-effective processing solution that connects seamlessly to our Orca chipset portfolio enabling designers to realise the full potential of Pixim’s technology.”

Stretch and Pixim said they will continue to develop video surveillance solutions together, including new camera reference designs, aligning product roadmaps, and participating in joint sales and marketing efforts.
