The financial outlay for the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) has been given more strength and they will be provided with state-of-the-art equipment and technology, Finance Minister P. Chidambaram said on Monday.
“A modernisation plan at a cost of Rs.11,009 crore has been approved to strengthen the capacity of Central Armed Police Forces,” said P. Chidambaram, while presenting the interim budget for the fiscal 2014-15 in the Lok Sabha.
There are six CAPFs in the country under the union home ministry: Central Reserve Police Force, Border Security Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo-Tibetan Border Police, Sashastra Seema Bal, and National Security Guard.
He said the funds have been provided in the current financial year and for the next year.
