RVR awarded SIA’s approved contractor status

The SIA acknowledgement comes just days after The Office of Government Commerce completed its first annual review of the Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS).

RVR is a part of UTC Fire & Security and protects a range of businesses, assets and staff by monitoring images remotely from CCTV cameras installed anywhere in the UK. They see this new approved status as an endorsement of their compliance with the Security Industry Act of 2001.

Colin Walters, General Manager of RVR, explains: “We are delighted to be one of the few to have been awarded this new and important status. We believe that it will give further levels of assurance and transparency to our customers as to the service we offer. The benefits, both internally and for our customers, will be significant. The dispensation for the licensing of up to 15% of our monitoring staff will give us the flexibility to resource further business growth and take on new contracts even at very short notice.”

The SIA Approved Contractor Scheme is based upon widely recognised business improvement models: ISO9001:2000 and the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) Excellence Model. The scheme also references British Standard codes of practice applicable to the private security industry.

“The defined objective of the ACS scheme is to raise performance standards and assist the private security industry in developing new opportunities,” Mr Walters concludes. “We are pleased that we have been benchmarked against the best, and come out on top.”
