2000th card allows installers on site
The card recognises security and fire installers’ competence and awareness of health and safety and allows them to carry out work on a construction site. Administered by the Joint Industry Board, the scheme is affiliated to the Construction Skills Certification Scheme.
Two new disciplines – emergency and security systems and fire detection and alarm systems – have been added to the ECS card scheme.
Installers who want new or renewed cards have to undergo a mandatory health and safety assessment and, if successful, get the card with the “ECS assessed” hologram on it.
Chris Pinder of the BSIA said the card showed that installers had the awareness to work on site and the association were pleased to be involved.
