3D face readers opening doors at IFSEC
Bioscrypt, who specialise in enterprise access control, have been demonstrating their 3D face reader at the show. The device featured recently in info4security’s news pages following its installation in a major Swiss bank and has been designed for quick and easy use.
The VisionAccess 3D face reader is comprised of a real-time surface scanner which casts a near-infrared ‘net’ over the visitor’s face. Using its recognition technology, it can determine whether to allow access within seconds, and it really works.
While the device is capable of high performance inside, it struggles in the open. However, it can even work at night in complete darkness and is incredibly effective. There is no set place to stand; the reader can determine who is looking at it whether they are three or six feet away. The design is ergonomic and can the device can be interfaced with a variety of other readers, including smart card readers.
The 3D template created by the reader can be used for both physical and logical and can allow access to both buildings and computers.
Bioscrypt are at IFSEC until the exhibition ends on Thursday.
