MacDonald Martin of Sunderland has become the 500th installer company to achieve accreditation under the BAFE SP203-1 scheme for fire detection and alarm systems.
Andy Trafford, who runs the business, has been involved in fire safety for his entire working life. He started by providing risk assessment services and then began installing fire alarm systems nine years ago.
“Being BAFE registered gives us the edge over our competitors and it is becoming a frequently requested requirement for tendering,” said Mr Trafford. “Customers can be reassured by our BAFE certification that we are a ‘competent’ installation company for their fire alarm requirements, and that when we hand their system over it is compliant with the BS5839 category stated and a full after-sales and maintenance regime will be applied.”
The firm has also achieved registration to BAFE SP101/ST104 for maintaining portable fire extinguishers.
