But the 60 megapixel panoramic camera sitting on top of the vehicle is being used for high resolution street mapping and surveying.
Developed by Yotta, the 3D mapping division of OMG plc, the Y360 digital camera captures images every two metres to give the precise location of features such as signs, trees, barriers and fences.
Combined with aerial photography they give an exact location of a building and its boundaries.
The vehicle will be used by local authorities, highways agencies and contractors, utility companies and mobile phone networks. It will also be used to take property surveys for council tax valuations.
