Airport upgrades its firefighting capability

Stansted – the UK’s third busiest airport – has completed a GB pound 1m upgrade to its firefighting capabilities with an extension to its fire station and the purchase of a new Scania domestic appliance, an incident command vehicle and a medical support trailer.
The investment also included an extensive refurbishment to the fire station, creating a more pleasant working environment for staff and firefighters.
“To continue our excellent response times, we’ve invested more than GB pound 1 million in new facilities and equipment,” said Stewart Wingate, Stansted’s managing director. “This cutting edge technology will be a welcome addition to the fire and rescue fleet and will ensure the service is equipped to deal with any incident at the airport for decades to come.”
