Antwerp strengthens port defences
Antwerp is Europe’s second largest port and in the first quarter of 2006 alone, handled some 40 million tonnes of freight and served nearly 4000 ships. The new system was deployed to help meet tough new international security standards for ports.
The Antwerp Port Authority adopted smart cards technology based on RFID, and supplied the smart cards, with which Bewator’s Granta system is able to integrate.
In the first stage of the project, 50 controllers will support up to 200 doors.
