ASC issues full programme details for Consec 2011

Now in its seventeenth year, Consec – the Association of Security Consultants’ annual Conference and Exhibition – will be held on Thursday 3 November 2011 at the Royal Air Force Museum in Hendon, north London.

The event – which runs under the banner ‘Out of Recession to Securing The Future’ – will be of much interest and direct relevance not only to security professionals but also to leaders across Government, industry and commerce.

Lord James Bethell, one of the esteemed Patrons of the Association, will provide the Opening Address.

Keynote speaker this year will be Chris Allison MBE, the Metropolitan Police Service’s assistant commissioner responsible for the 2012 Olympics and Paralympics and the National Olympic Security Co-ordinator. He’ll talk about ‘The Challenge of Securing 2012’.

Peter Drissell – departmental security officer at the Home Office – will cover ‘The Impact of Recession: an Increase in the Risk of the Insider Threat’.

Another eminent speaker, John Strange – the director of security at the Serious Organised Crime Agency – is set to provide details about the economic downturn and its impact on crime.

John Davies – former head of security for United Utilities – will talk about recovering from the business downturn in the regulated sector.

‘Preparing for an Economic Upturn: Training and Qualifying for the Future’ is the title of the presentation to be given by Dr Alison Wakefield of the Institute of Criminal Justice Studies at the Portsmouth University.

Peter Clarke CVO OBE QPM – former Metropolitan Police Service assistant commissioner specialist operations and now an independent consultant – will be chairing the conference.

Major sponsor for the conference will be Lenel Systems International who will be joined by other sponsors including KABA, Bold Communications, Salto Systems, Tyco International, Vicon, HID and Samsung.
