Aspirating system protects vital chocolate supplies

[

After a fire in 2005 that destroyed the only factory in Europe that manufactured chocolate covered peanuts, Link Integrated was awarded the GB pound 400,000 contract by Interserve to protect the newly constructed Cadbury’s factory in Pontefract.

The fire alarm system consists of a 6-loop Notifier ID3000 control panel which controls 18 Vesda scanner detection units; an air sampling system that uses dual stage filters; and laser scanner detection chambers to sample air quality for smoke, and displays a graphical representation of smoke levels at control and monitoring locations. Air is continually drawn in across 3500m of pipework for analysis and processing.

“A major challenge faced by Link Integrated was to provide a solution that offered a high level of false alarm management, offset against the need to have the earliest possible detection of a fire, especially in the dusty environment created by the manufacturing process,” said Paul Roberts, sales director at Link Integrated.

Another feature of the system are a forward and backward compatibility policy on all fire alarm products over a 25year period.
