State of Physical Access Trend Report 2024

Best read stories on info4security: February 2009

This month’s most popular story was a tale of derring-do from G4S Gurkha Services boss James Whitwam, who foiled robbers in the mean streets of London’s Piccadilly.

Following closely behind was my little think-piece on the business realities for IP security manufacturers and suppliers. That was gratifying, thanks.

Home Office announcements about tougher tests for migrant workers drew a lot of reader attention, particularly with the memory of SIA difficulties on illegal immigrants working as security officers still fresh in the memory.

And the SIA itself came in for some criticism this month, in regards to both the Approved Contractor Scheme and the organisation as a whole.

Pelco’s departure from the access control business, to concentrate on its core CCTV offering, was another popular story.

And a trial of police headcam technology in Derbyshire proved of interest to a wide range of visitors.

Football violence on CCTV – and on the TV – attracted a decent crowd, a fair few of whom were Leeds supporters, it seems.

The top 10 best-read stories for the month were round out by Honeywell’s launch of a new, cost-effective CCTV range; and the Mitie Group issuing an Interim Management Statement.

Who will come out on top next month? You have the power to decide. Read your favourite stories over and over again, if you like. We don’t mind at all.
