Biometrics: looking to the future

Almost every day, it seems, rigorous research and experimentation is revealing new ways of measuring and storing human characteristics. Fingerprint, hand geometry, face, voice, keystroke and iris recognition combined with capillary mapping and DNA are under constant scrutiny in terms of their usability, practicality and reliability.
For once, the public sector is way ahead of commercial organisations in this arena. However, as business relies increasingly on electronic remote communication for interaction and commercial transactions, electronic methods of authentication are needed which offer levels of security far beyond that offered by PIN numbers, etc.
With this in mind, the Association for Biometrics (AfB) has teamed up with ALCO and London Connects to organise a seminar designed to help the private sector catch up with the opportunities that biometric technologies can offer.
To be held at The Royal Society in London on Thursday 25 March, tickets cost GB pound 150 (or GB pound 100 for registered AfB members).
