BSIA chairman commits to standards-setting body
Formed in January this year and chaired by Lord Stevens, the former commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, Skills for Security is a body tasked with setting standards and raising skills for nearly half a million people who work in the UK security sector.
“I am pleased to take up this important position as a non-executive director with Skills for Security, commented Adam Wiseberg. “It ties in with my long-term commitment to best practice across the industry. I believe that my extensive business experience, through my role at AD Group and, crucially, my work on industry standards with the BSIA, will prove invaluable in assisting the board to achieve its aims and objectives.”
The standards body’s interim chief executive, Linda Sharpe, added: “When we were appointing the board it was important, as an employer-led organisation, that this was able to reflect the industry and the real challenges it faces in an evolving security environment. We were therefore delighted when we were able to have someone of Adam’s standing as a non-executive director.”
Meanwhile, Pauline Norstrom, worldwide head of marketing at Dedicated Micros, has been elected to chairman of the CCTV section of the BSIA.
Stepping up from vice-chairman – a role she has held since 2004 – Pauline’s will also remain as head of TC/10, the BSIA’s technical committee which focuses on CCTV best practice.
Commenting on her new role, Pauline said: “My vision for the section, moving forward, will be to ensure that we continue to play a leading role in developing standards and guidance for installers and end users alike.”
She continued: “I believe it is imperative where best practice is highlighted that it reflects real world issues – whether that be the handling of digital video evidence or the positioning of CCTV cameras in a retail environment. It is also vital that we are able to inform government strategy on all aspects of CCTV and I am determined to strengthen our links in this regard.”
