Commenting on the guidance notes, the BSIA’s technical director Alex Carmichael told info4security: “Internet Protocol (IP) has become an integral part of many security systems. Our new publications provide essential guidance to the industry on the use of the technology. IP has broken down frontiers when it comes to ensuring that systems can communicate with each other, and the technology will play a vital part in the way the industry develops over the next decade. With this in mind, it’s essential that installers and those that work in Alarm Receiving Centres and Remote Video Recording Centres understand the implications that IP technology has for them.”
The newly-published BSIA IP guidance notes are as follows:
– A guide to Internet Protocol for ARCs and RVRCs
– A guide for the installation of CCTV systems using IP technology
– A guide to the installation of IP-based secure signalling systems for intruder and hold-up alarm systems
These guides are the latest additions to a BSIA suite of literature which include a user and an installer guide to IP which were published last year. The Association is also in the process of producing an IP guide for access control systems and an IP common issues guide that will be published later in the year.
