We are the first to acknowledge that this is not the function of all security guarding personnel.
Indeed, most security officers are in essential roles in ordinary businesses right across the UK.
Picking up on the theme of skills in the industry, Nick recognises that there is still some headway to make in this area. The BSIA is committed to such up-skilling. That is why we are encouraging members to sign up to the Government’s Skills Pledge, and why the Association continues to work with Skills for Security on training and qualifications.
Of course, there are still improvements to be made when it comes to enhancing skills and increasing professionalism in our industry. To this end, the BSIA remains committed to working with all interested parties for the benefit of the industry and its customers.
