Call Points widen panel compatibility
[
KAC’s family of modular conventional manual call points, the MCP range, has been further extended with six more standard variants that provide compatibility with popular types of control panel.
All versions use the patented plug and play concept, in which a special terminal block is initially fitted with a simple continuity link, enabling the wiring of the fire alarm system to be tested for open, short circuit and earth fault – without the manual call point unit itself in place. On final commissioning, the continuity link is removed and the terminal block is then plugged directly into the back of the MCP, so no re-termination is required and no time is wasted.
The different configurations are selectable during commissioning by connecting the special terminal block to the required terminations in the back of the MCP. The resistor and clean contact version, MCP1, is available with either 470 or 680 Ohm resistors on one pair and a normally open set of contacts on the other. Versions compatible with Apollo and Hochiki Savwire systems are also available. The MCP3 provides a pair of normally open and normally closed contacts and the MCP4 is configured with double pole changeover contacts. The MCP features soft curved styling, is fully backwards compatible with previous generations and, says the company, offers a significant reduction in installation time. It is fully compliant with the latest EN 54-11 and BS 5839 Part 1:2002 standards.
