CCTV captures rioters shooting at police
During the five week trial, Birmingham Crown Court heard how the men planned and orchestrated an attack on police on the ground as well as at the force’s helicopter at the height of last summer’s riots in the city.
During the investigation police went through 300 hours of CCTV of the incident and the surrounding area.
Police say more than 40 men were involved in the incident but, according to the Guardian, the judge in the case said that many of those responsible may never be identified “because of the poor quality of the available CCTV footage and because those involved had their faces covered.”
This video released by West Midlands Police shows how the gang lured police officers to the area before attacking them.
