The weekend competition, now in its 12th year, saw 34 teams comprising staff from Chubb Security offices up and down the country pit their wits against each other at the Powerleague Soccer Dome in Blackburn. A collection was made and proceeds went to a local charity, Trinity Palliative Care Services.
After the games finished, players had the chance to dine overlooking the pitch at one of the top teams in the country, with an awards dinner that crowned the team from Edinburgh champions at Ewood Park, home of Premiership side Blackburn Rovers.
Praise from the Charity
“It was fantastic to receive such a generous cheque from a great company like Chubb,” said Jane Molyneux, community fundraiser for Trinity Palliative Care Services. “Without donations like this the hospice would struggle to exist.”
Trinity is a specialist palliative care service that cares for adults and children who have progressive life-limiting illnesses, and who have developed complex needs because of their illness. It cares for the person’s physical, emotional, psychological and emotional needs, and in doing so aims to add to each individual’s quality of life. Where possible, it extends that care to the individual’s family and carers.
The tournament was a huge success, according to Colin Entwistle, analyst at Chubb, and the choice of charity well received: “Last year it was decided we should give the money raised to a charity, and opted this time for Trinity Palliative Care Services as the mother of one of our staff had been diagnosed with terminal cancer, and needed specialist care. The support the entire family received was wonderful and without these donations the incredible work they do could not continue.”
