Cieffe big winner at IFSEC awards

The annual ceremony, which celebrates the people and products driving the industry, was held at Birmingham’s Hilton Metropole hotel, just along the road from the exhibition itself.

Chief executive of the BSIA, David Dickinson, opened the evening with a positive and reflective speech.

After some good food and a chance to chat with others in the industry, the ceremony was handed over to its main host, the BBC’s Adrian Chiles. The Match of the Day presenter looked pleased to be at the event, with what he described as “people working in the real world”.

Chiles, who fronted the BBC’s Working Lunch for twelve years, quickly moved on to the evening’s main event. With eight awards to give out to acknowledge the industry’s best people, products and technological advancements, the anticipation was high.

The evening’s biggest winner was Cieffe, with their Nettuno Mega PX scooping both the best new CCTV award and the Best of the Best award. Other teams awarded for their commitment to innovation included BT Redcare, Panasonic, Concept, Ultra Vision Secuirty Systems, NTL:Telewest and Connexion 2.

In the relatively new personality awards, John Saunders OBE, former SIA chief executive, won the Security Industry Leadership Award and Ian Nisbet of G4S Cash Services took the Security Industry Personality Of The Year.

The annual Security Industry Innovation Awards are judged by a panel of industry experts, including representatives from the British Security Industry Association, the General Defence Diversification Agency and the Police Scientific Development Branch.

As David Dickinson explains, the standard of the products and services this year was incredibly high:

“Year on year, the innovation and expertise of our industry never fails to amaze. I congratulate all the winners, who are testament to the sheer talent of the private security industry.”

James Blue, the event director at IFSEC added, “Looking at the changes that have occurred within the UK security industry over the last twelve months it’s clear to see that the industry is raising the bar and setting itself high standards to achieve.

Commenting on the respected awards, he added, “These awards gives the industry the ideal opportunity to recognise the companies that are realising these high standards.”
