COE and Anixter team up to improve level crossing safety

According to Network Rail, last year there were more than 3400 incidents of misuse at level crossings, accumulating 55 days of delays to trains and costing Network Rail about GB pound 1.8million.

COE Ltd has appointed Anixter as an authorised distributor for COE’s video transmission products which are approved by Network Rail for use in critical applications such as level crossing monitoring.

Anixter is one of the leading distributors in the rail industry, supplying industry approved specialist cables, connectors and electronic systems to rail and transport related industries in over 49 countries worldwide.

COE is a designer and developer of digital video surveillance systems.

Anixter and COE will provide equipment to enable remote monitoring of level crossings. Obstructions and dangers will be observed through real-time video and may be acted upon immediately.

David Simpson, security and telecoms manager for Anixter, said: “This is an exciting opportunity for Anixter as COE has been associated with the UK and European Rail industry for more than 15 years and they supply unique UK Rail approved products for safety critical applications as well as an industry leading transmission range. This agreement supports our strategy of providing additional value services to our core business.”

Ian Jefferson, CEO of COE, said: “Partnership with Anixter consolidates COE’s unique technologies with Anixter’s extensive rail expertise and distribution network.

“Developing strategic business partnerships with industry leaders such as Anixter is core to COE’s growth strategy. This agreement will allow us to provide first class delivery to the rail and transport industries and help to improve safety of level crossings.”
