Company drops cost of installing transmission equipment
By introducing single fibre working to its entire digital standard range, KBC Networks aims to make system design easier, decrease installation time and dramatically reduce customers’ infrastructure requirements.
To simplify the requirement for passive components as well as the installation process itself, KBC Networks has employed WDM technology (wavelength division multiplexing). In effect, they have removed the dual fibre range and now offer only single fibre solutions.
Iain Deuchars, the MD at KBC Networks Europe, believes that the upgrade will attract integrators, installers, consultants and end-users.
“Thanks to our 3rd generation design we’ve been able to introduce WDM-based solutions at costs equivalent to our previous two-fibre solutions. This allowed us to rationalise our range and offer our customers a unique commercial solution.
“With the KBC range, for no additional cost in the active transmission equipment, there is a 50 per cent cost saving in the passive infrastructure.”
The KBC standard digital range includes a number of video transmitter and receiver units and for both multimode and singlemode transmission. The units, which are available in compact, wall-mount and 3U chassis card versions, are directly compatible with NTSC, PAL and SECAM CCTV camera systems and operate within a temperature range of -40c to +70c.
