Corebox solution at heart of £16m college refurbishment

The colleges’ previous system was causing false alarms on a weekly basis, resulting in the police refusing to respond to the alarm and putting students, staff, and the campus as a whole, at risk.

The top priority for the college was to provide a safe and secure environment for staff and students, while also ensuring that the campus would be protected outside of school hours.

4i Security installed the Corebox solution with an intruder and access control system integrated on one platform, across three main buildings.

The Corebox system allows users to pick and choose the various elements they want to use – such as burglar alarm, access control, CCTV fire alarms, and flood prevention – meaning an overall reduced cost to the end user, 4i claims.

ID swipe cars with thumb print verification

The new integrated access control system provides enhanced control using ID swipe cars with thumb print verification – mitigating the danger of a lost card allowing unauthorised access, and providing an after hours lockdown service.

Haydn Gordon, facilities manager of Accrington and Rossendale College, said: “We selected 4i Security to install our integrated intruder and access control system because they were the only installation company that fully understood all our needs.”

Matthew Brough, head of IT and Technology at 4i Security, said: “It takes away the headache of managing multiple standalone systems […] by providing you with one fully integrated, automatic package.”
