Benfield Motors, a family-owned independent group, is one of the largest and best known private companies in the industry with 26 showrooms across the North East, North West and Yorkshire.
On smaller sites, up to five Redwave detectors from Optex Europe have been installed and larger forecourts may have up to 15.
Benfield is benefiting from a function on the detectors that filters out the repetitive movement of the flags and bunting that often triggers false alarms.
The systems were installed in partnership with IDS Fire & Security.
Director David Gray said the detectors on a number of the sites had almost eliminated false alarms.
“I no longer feel like we are crying wolf every time there is a false alarm. Our jobs have been made a great deal easier.”
