Domes help climate change scientists

As the team of 35 scientists researchers worked aboard the Danish ship, six weatherproof domes from Siemens subsidiary Building Technologies kept a watchful eye on the deck.

Siemens say the flexibility of their Solaris domes made them ideal for the eight-month expedition.

They claim the cameras, with integrated 26x zoom lenses and infrared filters, delivered optimum daylight colour pictures despite the diffucult conditions at sea.

Infrared lighting is said to have allowed the Solaris cameras to produce pin-sharp black and white images at night.

Siemens say that throughout the research expedition, alarm and power cables were housed in a tidy weatherproof casing.

Building Technologies, with its UK headquarters in Middlesex, aims to act as service provider, systems integrator and manufacturer.
