Dutch IP meeting hailed a success

Around 70 guests and members from across Europe met for the ‘IP in Action Live’ event at the Hotel Schiphol Airport A4 near Amsterdam in the hope of improving their understanding and acceptance of IP technology.

The one-day meeting featured a series of educational and promotional events and included a raft of guest speakers.

Iljitsch van Beijnum, an independent network consultant and author, made a special presentation on “The internet and what it means to you”. During the talk, he explained the need for IPv6 to replace IPv4, and highlighted how and when it was likely to affect businesses.

Jeroen Verheijen of IP firm Optelicom-nkf said, “I specifically attended to listen to the presentation by van Beijnum… who presented the important issues regarding IPv6”.

Other seminars focused on the future trends of surveillance, the ‘resolution revolution’ being caused by megapixel cameras and how users can get high-performance video at extremely low bandwidth.

Organisers said the dedicated exhibition area proved popular with the guests, providing them with a chance to see the very latest security products in action. Manufacturers and journalists from the trade press were also on hand to offer visitors one-to-one discussions about the products.

There are over 16,000 members of the IP UserGroup in 70 countries worldwide, and the organisation will be holding its next meeting in Essex on the 6th December. To find out more, and to register, click here.
