Dutch railways take first IP step
It involved the installation of over 200 transmitter/receiver modules from IndigoVision, connected to analogue cameras which are contained in special weatherproof and vandal-resistant housing. Images are converted to “DVD-quality” digital video and transmitted over the 100Mb/s Ethernet fibre network, which already existed and runs parallel to the rail network.
The system has the potential to be upgraded with Indigo Visions’s analytics software, which provides features such as Congestion Detection, which automatically alerts operators if platforms get too busy; Virtual Tripwire, to detect if anyone falls onto the tracks; and Object Detection for unattended bags
