Essay competition focuses on security
Students from East Wake Academy, Zebulon GT Magnet Middle School, and Wakelon Elementary School submitted their entries, which were judged by local Panasonic dealer Allen Security & Consulting.
Frank DeFina, President of Panasonic System Solutions Company said it is important that children know there are still safe places to grow up in.
He said: “Security has taken on a new meaning and is more pervasive throughout all walks of life as a result of world events here and abroad. In such a media rich culture, today’s children are exposed to events instantly, and often without explanation and analysis.
“The essays written by these children provide valuable insight as to their perception of security while letting them know there are people and companies at work dedicated to help preserve their safety.”
Barry Allen, President of Allen Security & Consulting, served as the final essay contest judge.
“This contest has gained popularity and generated quite a local buzz,” he said. “It’s also become a fantastic way for us at Allen Security to become more involved with the children in our community.”
Some of the winning essays, entitled “What Security Means to Me” have been posted on the Panasonic Security Systems website.
