Over 100 cameras were repaired, relocated and improved for the project which was designed by Hampshire-based CMG consultancy. Six new Metal Mickey high-speed dome cameras have also been installed around the station. Eurostar are hoping that these will offer the superior image quality that can be so vital in tracking live incidents.
Eurostar is confident that the new system will enable the station’s security staff to respond faster in the event of an incident. The upgraded CCTV network will also be used to provide evidential quality pictures if a suspected crime does take place.
Simon Montague, Director of Communications at the company said “the installation of this new CCTV system is further evidence of our continuing commitment to Ashford International”.
In the next few months Eurostar hope to extend the new system to cover the site’s carparks.
