EzCCTV seeks solution to transit-damaged goods
Damage deterrent company Lamerholm was called in to keep the company’s CCTV and remote monitoring products safe in transit with its range of ‘smart packaging labels’, ShockWatch.
ShockWatch labels are highly-visible devices using new technology to monitor shipping conditions. Developers hope the labels will bring damage claims to a quick resolution whilst protecting against warranty abuse.
How it works
The labels contain a tube filled with red liquid held in suspension. When the device is subjected to an impact exceeding a specified ‘G-level’, the shock disrupts the surface tension of the liquid, releasing a red dye into the length of the tube. This creates a permanent and immediate indication of mishandling but once activated, the device cannot be reset.
“The use of the ShockWatch labels has greatly reduced the number of damaged goods we get returned,” said Richard Ogle, warehouse manager at ezCCTV.
“Many of the products we ship are fragile and have components that can be damaged if they are subjected to knocks, bumps and general mishandling. Adding the ShockWatch labels to our packages means that the couriers are aware that the shipments are being monitored and we can track at what stage of the logistics process the damage has occurred.”
