I also attended a couple of the debates you hosted yesterday on security in the finance sector and combating staff theft. Although both sessions were good, I found The Threat Within extremely interesting. Having our own Alarm Receiving Centre means that we’re geared up for vetting procedures, but the discussion really did make me think that there’s a whole untapped (potential!) issue in the wider company.
It was interesting to hear the Post Office’s John Scott mention that the 10% of honest people are the ones who write the policies and procedures for companies, but do those policies really cover all bases when it comes to the less-than-honest individuals?
Food for thought when my in-house team starts to look at the next revisions to our security strategy.
