A fire-rated movement joint for floors and walls has been launched by Illbruck Sealant Systems. The Compriband Jointspan FR provides a passive fire, cold smoke and acoustic sealing system that has been designed for movement joints to support Interspan and Superspan jointing profile ranges.
Consisting of a non-combustible composite assembly of ceramic fibre blanket and aluminium foil enclosed in a glass fibre textile cover, the system can provide up to four hours’ fire protection and has been tested to BS 476: part 22 (1987).
The material can accommodate large movement cycles, including three axis movements and seismic shock, says the company, and is suitable for a wide range of floor and wall jointing and cavity applications.
