FIREX SOUTH EXHIBITION PREVIEW
[
On the 11th and 12th March 2008 at Sandown Exhibition Centre, Sandown Park, Surrey, FIREX SOUTH will be hosting some of the UK’s most important manufacturers and distributors of fire protection products.
Wireless fire safety specialists FIRECO will be highlighting their Wedge Pledge campaign at the show. The fire safety campaign aims to rid the country of the menace of fire doors being wedged open, and to highlight the company’s alternative ways of holding them open with its Dorgard system. The company will also be sponsoring the Owl Bar, where every visitor will receive a complimentary ‘happy hour’ drinks pass. Visit Fireco on stand A18.
CABLES BRITAIN Ltd will be launching its addressable heat sensor cable, Listec, which can monitor many areas between -40C to +85C. In some environments with dust, dirt, exhaust fumes, humidity, freezing fog or vibration, conventional heat and fire detection systems can be compromised, or access after installation just isn’t possible. Said to be easy to install and commission and maintenance free, Listec complies with BS EN 54-5 and is LUL and VDS approved. The company will also be showing its Firecel fire-resistant cable strip off within 10 seconds. Cables Britain will be on stand D23.
C-TEC will be demonstrating it’s new disabled refuge system, SigTEL Compact, which has just been installed at one of Chester University’s most prestigious buildings. The disabled refuge system in the newly refurbished Best Building consists of an 8-line stainless-steel flush-mounted master EVC control unit, located in the entrance hall on the ground floor, and connected by 2-core enhanced fire rated cable to a remote outstation on the first floor of the building. In an emergency, SigTEL Compact facilitates effective two-way communication between building managers and people located in the refuge area, to assist rescue teams in determining where assistance is required and to reassure people help is on the way. C-TEC will be exhibiting on stand A8.
BALDWIN BOXALL will be showing its new addressable emergency voice communication system that allows disabled refuge, fire telephones and disabled toilet alarms to be wired onto one system. Omnicare has been developed in accordance with BS 5588, BS 5839 part 9, and BS 8300: 2001 for the disabled toilet alarm. The company will also be demonstrating Eclipse 2, described as a cost effective, wall mountable voice alarm or public address system which can handle up to seven single, or four dual circuit zones. Staff from Baldwin Boxall will be on hand at stand C16.
Recently added to CRANFORD CONTROLS’ portfolio of products is System X. This new wireless system consists of three parts – the transmitter unit, Dorgard and Deafgard. By placing the transmitter next to a fire alarm sounder, when the sounder is activated the transmitter automatically sends a radio signal to the Dorgard and Deafgard. This triggers the Dorgard to release the fire doors, preventing the spread of smoke and fire, while Deafgard emits a high intensity strobe and vibrates pillow pads, waking users and alerting them to the problem. See Cranford Controls on stand H8.
Fire detection and alarm manufacturer AMPAC EUROPE will be exhibiting a new range of products for the European and Middle Eastern markets. The company says one of the highlights on its stand will be a demonstration of its latest Smart Graphics system, creating a hub for the control of fire management systems. New products will include Loop Sense and FireFinder Plus for multiple loop systems. See them on stand F6.
Smoke ventilation systems from ELTA FANS have been designed to combine general ventilation plus emergency smoke extraction for F200, F300 and F400 classifications, and are available with fan diameters up to 2m. The company has now extended its EC certification for smoke related fan units with BSI, and claims it now has one of the largest certified standards product ranges in Europe. Elta Fans will be on stand E34.
